Aerobic DVD - An Effective Exercise Workout or Misplaced Dust Collector?I bought my first aerobic dvd 3 years ago, and have not used it since - don't even remember what it was called. It's been misplaced somewhere in the back recesses of my home, and it has not been seen in months. I do remember some things - it was bright pink, and had some grinning guy in spandex and big hair on the cover, telling us to lose weight. I thought the aerobic music would motivate me to get my rear in shape, but it was not to be. Instead, my brand new dvd just sat in the corner gathering dust while I sat on the couch, growing fatter and less fit. The second workout video was step aerobics, but it fared no better. I did try that particular one a couple of times, but it felt silly to exercise with a class on film, pretending not to feel ridiculous. It was hard to make it a part of the daily routine. The plan was to start each day with an aerobic exercise dvd and a shower, but motivation was really low. Three or four aerobic dvds later and nothing has changed. It's simply not that fun to sweat all alone in the living room, following a get fit dvd on the television. Watching, waiting and hoping was not enough. Finally, I had to do what I had been dreading all along - join a gym. Once an aerobics class with a qualified instructor began it suddenly became so much easier to stick with the program. Belonging to a group got me out of the house and the people were so encouraging. Talk about motivated. Almost immediately, I was hooked on taking classes with fun and challenging aerobic routines to get in shape. Meanwhile, all those aerobic dvds quietly gather dust in the house of a newer, fitter me. |
