What's stopping you from losing weight? Is it lack of time? Not enough energy? A slow metabolism? Lack of motivation? A love of food?According to celebrity weight loss expert Jim Karas, the answer is probably "none of the above". To successfully lose weight, says Karas, you have to mentally "flip the switch and decide that your desire to succeed at weight loss is greater than your desire to fail." Those who are successful at losing weight must do it for themselves, says Karas. "A spouse or partner can't make you do it, a parent can't make you do it, a friend can't make you do it. Only you can make that decision to lose weight." Karas is the author of two best-selling health and fitness books, "The Business Plan for the Body" and "Flip the Switch", and is the Fitness Contributor to ABC's Good Morning America and appears regularly on ABC 7 in Chicago with Tracy Butler. It's the simple things that make all the difference, says Karas. His advice to stay motivated? "First, get on the same scale once a week at the same time every week. Second, put on a pair of jeans to see how they fit. Jeans don't lie. If they're tight, you're growing. If they're loose, you're shrinking." DOWNERS GROVE, Ill Sept. 5 |
